I was given a stoma after cancer surgery at Whiston Hospital and Jo was one of the nurses that provided stoma care for me. She has treated me with dignity and respect throughout. She is a sterling credit to the team. You definitely need great support if you have a stoma fitted and she provides it. She has great knowledge and experience and is always professional. She listens attentively and conscientiously to any queries, concerns or questions and always shows empathy and understanding. She gave me confidence in being able to live with a stoma and all the essential knowledge needed to best look after it and order essential supplies. After a couple of minor problems which I think may be typical for new stoma patients she quickly offered solutions with her knowledge of the supporting products that are available. I have contacted her many times. She was always on hand and got back without any delay offering solutions and/or support as required. All I can say is I received first class stoma nursing care and support from Jo and it is much appreciated. I am sure Hollister are very pleased to have Jo on their team. Thank you. John

After waking up from surgery to an unexpected situation of a stoma I was confused and upset as to what to do, however when I was introduced to the Stoma team from Whiston Hospital NHS my fears and worries were alleviated. My Stoma Nurse Jo Rooney who is a credit to her team helped me through everything by being supportive and professional offering me help and advice with all aspects from caring for my stoma to diet and exercises. She was always on the other end of the phone if I needed her when I was worried and quickly put me at ease. The home visits I had from Jo were reassuring to me to know that I could ask anything as she was caring and had a vast knowledge of Stoma care. Thank you Jo so much for everything you have done for me I cannot tell you how much you have helped me through this difficult time with your compassion and professionalism.

Jo has been such a great help and support since leaving hospital. She listens and genuinely cares not just for my stoma but for my emotional well being too. Nothing has been too much trouble and is always at the end of the phone. Thanks so much for continuing to help me adjust to my new norm for now- couldn’t ask for better care ☺️
